Empowering women to fight for dignity and livelihood.
The Women’s Institute for Solidarity and Empowerment is a research institution that partners with grassroots women’s organizations and working women to develop publications and media that broadens and popularizes their struggle for social change.
We believe that the real change makers of history are women who are actively engaged in changing the world, not merely interpreting it. We believe society progresses towards the genuine social liberation of women through working and oppressed people collectively taking action to struggle for their rights and livelihood. We aim to support women’s struggles for a dignified livelihood and social freedom through centering the experiences of working and oppressed communities and how they are decisively taking action to change their conditions for the benefit of generations of women to come.
Our aim is to popularize these struggles through publications, media, and resources that can be directly integrated into the work of the communities who we partner with. Their work informs our research and empowers women to link their struggles together in solidarity to achieve social change.
WISE envisions a world free of exploitation and oppression where working and marginalized women enjoy a dignified livelihood and social freedom.
OUR VISION
WISE strives to empower working and marginalized women from grassroots movements and organizations using a Participatory Action Research framework to demand economic justice and build solidarity by bridging their issues and struggles to promote social change.
